Chapter 2: Second adventure in the dream

• Scene 12
• Character: Kyle, the man in the counter, three women of the neighbour

A group of women come into the superstore who gathering in front of the counter and start to ‘exchange’ their gossip.

Kyle actually not really interesting in their gossip, but she found it interesting that she understands what they are talking about.

‘Seems they’re using Arab…’ but the dialogue naturally changes to English when Kyle listens to it. ‘Wow, I can understand Arab?!’

Woman A: ‘Do you know the explosion was caused by that “secret organisation” in the town’

Woman B: ‘I knew it! People are sneaking in and out there. They must be organised something bad.’

The man in the counter: ‘You see, they are coming here and ruin our country but what we have?’ The man bitterly resented this situation.

• Their conversation attracts Kyle’s interest. She moves her position from the back to the middle which also can keep watch look at the back entrances.

Woman C: ‘Since they move here, the wars are never stopped. I am upset about the government. The government put us to the dangerous!’

The man in the counter (carefully look around): ‘Shhhh…You know, we cannot say that! If someone heard that, we’ll have the trouble!’

Woman B (Sadly): ‘When will this end? I am really worried that my children have to live like this in their entire life.’

• All of them are shaking their heads to agree with the woman.

‘I can’t agree more with that,’ Woman C said. ‘By the way, do you know there was a woman sho helped people in the market?’

Woman A: ‘Yes!! I was there, I saw a woman who was wearing a black outfit and helping separate people to a safe place. She isn’t our people, don’t know where she come from…’

• Kyle realises, herself, become their topic. She feels the butterflies in her stomach.

The man in the counter: ‘Yes, I heard that people are talking about her. I’d love to meet her.’

Woman B: ‘Unfortunately, the gang turfed her out when she was helping …’

The man in the counter: The gang! Yes, they even came to my store to find her! Tell you what, I’d shut them to go away, even she was here.’

Woman A: Hahaha… I don’t believe it! Everyone know that you’re a coward. If their Big Boss comes to you, you’ll run first!’

• The three women are laughing together, and the man seems not angry about that. And he notices Kyle…

The man in the counter: ‘Hey, ….’

• Kyle walks quickly to the back entrances as the people finish their work.

The man in the counter: ‘Hey, … you, hey, woman! you can’t go there!’

• The other three women just watch Kyle leave.

Kyle passes the back entrance and heard the man is talking about her.

‘What a rude woman, she stays in my store for over 10 minutes and buy nothing!! Nothing!!’ The man in the counter is complaining to other women.

Women C (uncertainty): Don’t you think she is the woman in the market?

Woman A: ‘Really? The clothes were different. This woman was wearing a black jacket and hat with short hair. I think she might be a thief?’

The man in the counter: ‘Thief! No way!! You, go there! help me to check if I lose anything’ The man looks at Woman B and orders her to do the work.

The women are unhappy with that…

• Kyle thinks she won’t get any useful information and she realised her clothes are changed after she heard their conversation. She is not surprised…

Kyle thinks, ‘my conscious just helped me to change my clothes, hahaha… should I appreciate?… Anyway, that’s getting out of this hell dream.’
